I was very lucky to be present for two different eruptions in the Geldingadalur valley in the Reykjanes peninsula. The first occured at Fagradalsfjall, which started in March 2021, and the second in an area very close by referred to as Meradalir in August 2022.
While hiking to the second eruption in August 2022, visitors passed the lava fields from the first site, now a year old.
